In that movie they say that the car is a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California, but
my research has shown me that that model was only made in 1959... does
anyone know if there actually was a 250 GT California in 1961, or is that
just a movie error?

Well, the car in the movie wasn't a real one, it's from this
company: http://www.calspyder.com/

The real ones were made from 1958-1960 (long wheelbase
version) and 1960-1963 (short wheelbase version).

Glad to hear that as I have wondered for years if they did damage a real
250.

Doubt even Hollywood producers would allow such an expensive and raw
travesty to occur.

If I remember it correctly (fat chance), they didn't even dub a proper
v-12 over it.

...So much for research.
